Why Jesus Christ Died on the Cross?

Many non believers are curious to know why Jesus had to died on the cross for their sins when other people preach the gospel to them. They don't understand the significance of Jesus Christ dying on the cross for their sins. Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross in order to offer up his life blood as a ransom for our sins.

Mankind are sinners. You may say you are not a sinner but every human being on this earth is a sinner. This is because we are descendants of Adam and Eve. Adam was the first man that God created. God created Eve, the first woman from one of Adam's ribs. Adam and Eve sinned by eating the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. They disobeyed God's commandment because God had told them earlier not to eat from the trees in the middle of the Garden of Eden. Disobedience is a sin no mater if the consequence of the disobedience is good or bad.

Many people ask why can't God just forgive our sins so that everyone can go to heaven. In this way, Jesus Christ will not have to take the hassle to come to earth and die for our sins on the cross.

In the Old Testament times, blood of sin offerings are used to make atonement for the sins of the high priest and Israelites (Hebrews 9:7-10). The high priest made atonement for himself and Israelites on the Day of Atonement once every year. God requires everything to be cleansed by blood. There will be no forgiveness if there is no blood shedding (Hebrews 9:22).

Therefore, Jesus Christ made the decision to reincarnate into human being through the virgin Mary with the purpose to die for our sins on the cross. Jesus Christ faced temptations like us, while he was on earth but he never sin. The blood that flowed from his wounds when he was crucified on the cross become ransom for sinners and cleanse our transgressions. He offered himself as a pure and blameless sacrifice on the cross. Jesus Christ loved us so much that he was willing to forsake the luxury in heaven and come down to earth to die for our sins.

Anyone who believes in Jesus Christ can be saved regardless of ethnicity, country and etc (Romans 10:9-13). After you are baptized and become a Christian, it does not mean that your sins will be automatically forgiven. The blood of Jesus is only useful when you sincerely confess your sins and repent. Everyday, you must examine yourself to see if you have sin against God in any area in your life. Christians must abide in God's commandments and spend time to develop a close relationship with God in order to inherit eternal life.
